The Ohio Affordable Housing Foundation exists to help create affordable housing for the state of Ohio. But this doesn’t mean that all buildings, builders, and partners are equal. To create a better tomorrow, we—as an industry—need to take a hard look at ourselves and work within green standards to our building practices to whatever degree possible.

Standards like LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and others like it exist to help guide environmentally responsible practices. Creating healthy, highly efficient, and cost-saving green buildings aren’t just good for the environment, but also for residents who see lower energy bills, and property managers, who can see lower operating costs over the long term.

We encourage all of our partners and contemporaries across the multifamily industry who might not be familiar with green building to review the Discover LEED tool, which is a great primer into one of the most important developing trend in development.
